CELL ADORE FILM FESTIVAL - See You Again

Jayne Slater’s debut short, See You Again, is a more melancholic work than a simple spooky ghost story.

The film follows Rachel (Jenn Day), a mother who works more than spending time with her daughter, Elle (Isobel Mcnerney).

The story of a parent working too much is one that many viewers can find a connection to and is a theme Slater uses to great effect. The films script (written by Slater), finds its greatest strength in allowing the short to focus on the characters and their performances, making the supernatural nature of it almost an afterthought. Day’s performance of Rachel is both understated and stand-out, as she portrays the multitude of emotions the character goes through without overacting a single one.

See You Again is a thoughtful, melancholic ghost story with performances that ground the film in a way that makes the supernatural parts of its story surprising, showing great promise for its writer/director, Jayne Slater

I've been a cinephile since I popped out my mom. I was always that kid who knew about the newest movies and spent much of their time watching them. I knew I wanted to be apart of the industry when I saw grindhouse at age 12 and I haven't looked back since.
